Chapeau Cornu: Embark for Royal Life in the Heart of an historical French Castle

An establishment with a soul, respectful of its heritage and its land, highlighting the French Art of Living (Art de Vivre). Chapeau Cornu castle is evolving around experiences calling for the discovery of the five senses doing so while being groundbreaking and innovative.

Located 50 minutes away from Lyon and 1h30 from Geneva, the Château de Chapeau Cornu, a 4* hotel complex, has been standing majestically since the 13th century, in its green setting in the heart of the Pays des Couleurs (Balcons du Dauphiné). Entirely renovated in 2019, this historical building kept all its yesteryear charm but managed to integrate a touch of modernity to offer a wellness interlude.

Historical debut in the 13th century

Once upon a time two powerful families decided to join forces to build a castle, The Capella and The Cornuti. Until the French Revolution nothing notable happened. The incredible history of this establishment lies in its appeal to epicureanism. The intendant of the time had the brilliant idea to open the wine cellar to the revolutionaries that came to burn down the castle. Thus, thanks to the wine and the conviviality of this castle, the revolutionaries went away happily forgetting in the process their initial mission…

Under the leadership of Thierry Régnier, this castle has over the past twenty years become a beautiful hotel-restaurant. Chapeau Cornu keeps reinventing the limits of what modernity can do to serve the heritage of such monument.

Latest additions: Spa & Brandy Bar

The Spa opened its doors last month, unveiling a cocoon of wellness for absolute relaxation. The soothing atmosphere is composed of a hammam, a sauna, a sensory shower and a wall of Himalayan salt.

The Hammam eliminates toxins, improves blood circulation and clears the respiratory tract. Above all, it helps to evacuate stress and accumulated tension. The Sauna stimulates blood circulation, relaxes the muscles and relieves them quickly after a sports session and boosts our immune system. It cleans and purifies the body by helping to eliminate toxins and improves the elasticity of the skin. Bonus: You can choose the colour of the sauna lights according to your mood or bathing suit.

The Sensory Shower awakens the senses by playing with different therapies: hydrotherapy, chromotherapy and light therapy, music therapy and aromatherapy. Ideal for a complete relaxation session. This was truly an experience in itself, I have never experience anything similar before.

The Himalayan Salt Wall allows a great relaxation (anti-stress, anti-fatigue, nervousness, insomnia), has notorious benefits for the pulmonary airways. It is particularly recommended for people suffering from asthma, sinusitis, laryngitis, chronic bronchitis, but also for the treatment of allergies and for the beauty of the skin (reduction of problems such as eczema, psoriasis). 45 min with the salt wall would have the same effect as a weekend at the seaside. It reinforces immunity and improves digestive and vascular disorders.

In addition, Chapeau Cornu’s Spa offers you a double massage cabin with quality, environmentally friendly treatments from the partner houses Cinq Mondes and Biovive.

Glowzen Room Innovation at its best

The Spa du Château Chapeau Cornu also stands for innovation in the field of relaxation and ecology. Therefore, the establishment will be the first spa in France to have a Glowzen Room, a relaxation room based on bioluminescence from 14 February 2020.

Brandy Bar

The Ritz Paris has a Bar Hemingway, the Chateau Chapeau Cornu’s has its very own Brandy Bar. Inspired by an original wooded ambiance reminiscent of the Titanic’s period smokehouses, the authentic skillfully and subtly mixes with the modern. Most of the interior furniture was decorated by the French interior design house Ligne Roset. Located near the reception, enjoy a refined selection of local and international spirits and champagnes with brands such as Dom Pérignon as partners.

Le Capella Gastronomic Restaurant

The Chef, Philippe Barberet, welcomes clients to the gastronomic restaurant Le Capella for lunches and dinners. He worked with starred chefs who have passed on to him the rigour necessary for a cuisine of excellence. Le Capella offers an inventive and gourmet cuisine based on taste using fresh, local and seasonal products.

If you have to try one thing, it surely would be the desserts… You can make a reservation for lunch or dinner here!
